The City of Dodge City is accepting applications for the position of firefighter/EMT.  Applications will be used to fill vacant positions and to establish an eligibility list for future reference.  The starting range for this position is $38,351 annually (Candidates without EMT Certification starting range for this position is $37,390 annually) plus City benefit package, including single/family health insurance, paid vacation and sick leave, and KP&F retirement program.  Position responds to alarms and emergency medical calls to protect life and property, trains on and operates fire fighting and emergency response equipment and participates in fire prevention programs.

Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and must possess a high school degree or equivalency, valid state driver’s license with a good driving record, and Kansas or National Registry EMT certification.  NFPA Firefighter I, II and Hazmat operations certifications preferred. Previous experience and bilingual skills preferred but not required.  Applicants must be able to perform heavy physical work, including lifting up to 75 lbs. and be able to perform a variety of movements.
